Apartment Life in Chester
Chester, located along the 1-95 corridor between Philadelphia and Wilmington, Delaware, is the oldest city in Pennsylvania. This small city, where William Penn first set foot prior to moving upriver to Philadelphia, is mostly urban and industrial in character, although there are also residential neighborhoods within its borders. The city is convenient to I-95, the Blue Route (476) and Route 320, and its Commodore Barry Bridge connects the city to New Jersey. Neighborhood stores and shopping centers located along Route 352, Chester Pike, and MacDade Boulevard provide shopping convenience for residents. SEPTA rail and bus service also provides access to Philadelphia and the outlying suburbs. Home of the original hoagie, Chester is also home to Widener University. The city has seen a dramatic increase in the rate of development and redevelopment in the last several years. Rental properties in the city include apartment complexes, duplexes, and single homes. Chester Township, an adjoining community, is somewhat more residential in character.
