Collegeville, population 8,032 is located in the Borough of Collegeville in Montgomery County just northwest of Philadelphia between Norristown and Harleysville along Highway 29 near the Schuylkill River. Seated on the Perkiomen Creek, is an important community, in that it provides neighboring municipalities with goods and services needed by area residents. Much of Collegeville retains its nineteenth-century village flavor in addition to its recent residential developments. Ursinus College's beautiful campus adds a wonderful touch to this small community. Some Collegeville mailing addresses may actually be located in Lower Providence, Upper Providence, Skippack or Perkiomen Townships. A small main street shopping area exists. The borough contains two community shopping centers. Also, the same types of facilities are available in neighboring Trappe Borough. The nearest major shopping mall is the Court and Plaza at King of Prussia. Renter occupied housing is 26% of total housing.
